Aerial view of GSMIT facilitiesGreat Smoky Mountains Institute at Tremont is located on the Tennessee side of Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Situated about four miles from the Townsend entrance, Tremont is in the watershed of the Middle Prong of the Little River where established trails intersect with various forest types, streams and geological formations within the half million acres of Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

The Campus

Tremont is a residential environmental learning center and most program participants stay on site. Living inside Great Smoky Mountains National Park certainly has its rewards. Feel your worries melt away as you cross the bridge over the Middle Prong to this quiet place tucked into the mountains. Wake up every morning in our dormitory and walk outdoors to a breathtaking view of Fodderstack Mountain, a perfect way to begin a day in the national park!
