Program Specialist
We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and well-organized individual with experience and training in developing and leading residential environmental education programs.
Description: As a key member of the program management team, the Program Specialist is active in maintaining excellence with the implementation and development of programs as they relate to the strategic goals, mission and purposes of Great Smoky Mountains Institute at Tremont (GSMIT or Tremont). The Program Specialist is directly responsible for development, planning and coordination of program schedules for all school groups and some non-school programs offered by Great Smoky Mountains Institute at Tremont. The position responsibilities also include teaching and program coordination, as needed.
Qualifications: Bachelors in Environmental Education, Nature Interpretation, or closely related field; supplemented by a minimum of two (2) years previous experience and/or training that includes residential environmental education, summer youth/adult program operations; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Demonstrated experience in working with residential environmental learning centers, program development, management, and working with schools and teachers. Teaching certificate desirable. Applicant must have a keen interest in, and aptitude for, Natural History and place-based experiential education.
Salary & Benefits: Commensurate with experience. Full-time salaried (low to mid-twenties) with full benefits.
