Evaluating Tremont's
    Impact

Tremont has teamed with Blue Smoke Coffee, a small, gourmet coffee roaster, to bring you Coffee for Kids. Every penny of the proceeds from this fundraiser goes towards your class’ trip to Tremont.

Here’s how it works. Blue Smoke roasts a variety of blends; we’ve chosen three to sell through the fundraiser. We can make the coffee available to you in two ways. For those who want instant gratification, you call us with to order what you think you can sell, then Blue Smoke roasts the beans and ships your order to you. You have the bags of coffee on hand, ready to sell. Since you’ll pay in advance, every dollar that the students bring in can be placed directly in your Tremont fund – no need to worry about how much goes to pay for the coffee, and how much you get to keep. Sell out early? No problem, we’ll be happy to get a second shipment your way quickly.

We recognize that not every class will be willing or able to pay and order in advance, so the second option is to send your students out with Tremont-provided order forms. Customers will order what they’d like and the students will collect their money. The order forms and payment will be sent to us, Blue Smoke will roast exactly what you need, and in a few days you’ll have coffee ready to deliver to your students’ customers. Again, we’ll try to make it easier on you – you can send us all the money that the students have collected, we’ll pay for the coffee and then immediately apply the profit to the cost of your trip. (Of course, if you’d rather, you can simply pay us for the coffee, and hold on to the proceeds yourself, until your class comes to Tremont).

Tremont will provide everything you need to get started: brochures on the coffee, order forms, even brochures on Tremont’s programs, so the customer knows what they’re supporting. All you need to do is get your students out selling!

The wholesale cost for a 12 oz. bag of coffee is $8, the retail price (what you’ll sell it for) is $12. Since you keep all of the proceeds (minus a very small amount for shipping), that’s $4 you’ve raised for every bag of coffee sold!

This is coffee you can feel good about selling, too. Blue Smoke is a small, family-owned and operated business. They sell only organic, shade grown, fair trade coffee, which means that it’s coffee that’s good for you, good for the earth, and good for the family farmers who grow it. They’re also a carbon-neutral roaster, offsetting 100% of the carbon created in the roasting and shipping process. Additionally, Blue Smoke is a member of 1% For The Planet, an alliance of businesses that donate at least one percent of annual sales to environmental programs.
