Girls in Science
June 11-16, 2012
Who says girls don’t like things that creep and crawl? Join a group of other intrepid girls for the adventure of a lifetime. Get up close and personal with critters, plants, and the forces that shape our natural world as you join scientists in conducting hands-on science in the park. Study butterflies, explore rushing streams, and search for the hidden and unknown in your quest to REALLY know Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Created for rising 8th grade girls, Girls in Science Camp is unlike anything you have ever done and will create memories that last a lifetime.
Cost: Thanks to a generous grant from Alcoa Foundation, this camp is offered at $50/person to qualifying rising 8th grade girls from Tennessee and North Carolina.
To apply, download the application at the bottom of this page. Be sure to turn in all three segments – the student application, the parent sheet, and the teacher questionnaire – by March 1, 2012. All applications will be held until the end of March when they will be reviewed by a committee. After the review process, each girl will be notified whether or not she has been accepted. If you are selected, your payment will be processed at that time.
