Love to Present at Southeast Fish and Wildlife Conference
(Great Smoky Mountains) Great Smoky Mountains Institute at Tremont’s
Citizen Science Director Jason Love will present a poster on Tremont’s
terrestrial salamander program at the 61st annual Conference of the
Southeastern Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies , to be held in
Charleston, WV on October 21-24, 2007.
The conference is hosted by the Southeastern Association of Fish and
Wildlife Agencies (SEAFWA), an organization whose members are the state
agencies with primary responsibility for management and protection of the
fish and wildlife resources in 16 southeastern states. Participating
sponsors and organizations include the U.S. Forest Service, the U.S. Fish
and Wildlife Services, and state fish and wildlife agencies. To learn more

Jason Love shares the success of Tremont’s terrestrial salamander program,
“Not only has the project yielded some important data, but more importantly,
it has involved over 450 students who act as citizen scientists, learning
about salamander ecology, collecting the data on salamanders, and performing
the steps of the scientific method.”

Love joined the Tremont staff as Citizen Science director in April 2006. He
earned a B.S. in Forest Resources with a major in wildlife from the
University of Georgia and a M.S. in Wildlife and Fisheries Resources from
West Virginia University.
