Volunteer Work Day at Tremont, November 10, 2007

Each year, Great Smoky Mountains Institute at Tremont opens up the campus to an army of volunteers. Volunteer Work Day is when people of all ages come to help us beautify Tremont’s campus.  It is a fun day filled with great work projects that benefit Tremont's buildings, campus and trails. These projects, as
completed, ultimately benefit Tremont's participants and reflect on our relationship with Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Sam Crowe, Tremont’s Facilities Manager, states, “If it were not for Volunteer Work Day a lot of these projects would not get done. The volunteers, over the past few years, have helped the maintenance department make great strides in improving the overall appearance of our campus and nearby trails. In helping us, volunteers are also helping to maintain the beauty of this amazing National Park.”

It is a wonderful day to be outside enjoying the Smokies, surrounded by fantastic people. The day begins at 8:30 a.m. with a short rally, making work groups and delegating projects then the day is punctuated with a tremendous lunch for everyone. Volunteering is a small way of saying how much we
appreciate Tremont and its mission, “connecting people and nature.” All are invited to come out and join us on November 10 for Volunteer Work Day.

Thanks to all who plan on coming to this event. Registration is not necessary but we would appreciate calls so we may know how many to expect for lunch. 865-448-6709.
