Appalachian Celebration:
Family Fun and Foot-stomping Music!

For the fifth summer in a row, an Appalachian Celebration will be hosted by the Great Smoky Mountains Heritage Center in Townsend, TN. A partnership between Great Smoky Mountains Institute at Tremont and the Heritage Center, the annual concert celebrates the music and the stories of the mountains.

The 2010 Appalachian Celebration will be July 9th in the Heritage Center’s outdoor amphitheater. The venue, located in the heart of Townsend, creates a down-home atmosphere that fits perfectly with this casual evening of family fun and foot stomping music.

Jill Pair and The Shadow Mountain String Band will captivate with their traditional mountain music played under the stars. The acoustic family group plays a combination of old time Appalachian and Irish music. Before they are through, everyone will be tapping their feet and singing along.

Storyteller Elizabeth Rose will mesmerize with her vivacious stories woven with wit, humor, and expressive enthusiasm. She brings a blend of traditional southern folklore, tales, ghost stories, and folktales from around the world.

Everyone will want to be a part of this growing tradition and enjoy an unforgettable evening. Tickets may be purchased at the door for $5.00 beginning at 6:00 p.m., with the show starting at 7 p.m. Drinks and snacks will be available for purchase with all funds earned split between the two non-profit organizations.

Sponsoring this year’s event is Trust Company Bank, with WDVX and Smoky Mountain Living as media sponsors.
