FungiMap
| Mushrooms are generally difficult to identify, especially for amateurs, but FungiMap focuses on 50 distinctive species that can easily be identified by beginners. The goal of FungiMap is to generate a database of observations of these 50 species in order to determine where in the park and when during the year these fungi produce fruit (mushrooms). Students can watch for fungi along the trails and help determine if they are on the FungiMap list. They can then record the precise location using a GPS unit, describe the habitat in which the fungus is growing, and identify dominant tree species. |
