Millipede March

Millipede March is a citizen science project designed to collect information on millipedes in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Although millipedes are one of the most ubiquitous invertebrates in the park, very little is known about their ecology or taxonomy. Data and specimens gathered by students and volunteers will be given to Bruce Snyder, a PhD candidate and millipede ecologist from the University of Georgia. Once the specimens are positively identified, the information will be given to park managers and will be entered in the ATBI database. One of the goals of this project is to produce a millipede identification key for the park.
