Pond Amphibian Breeding Survey

Amphibian experts Dr. Jim Petranka and Dr. Charles Smith developed this project in the
mid-1990’s to monitor pond-breeding amphibians at specific wetlands throughout the park. Wood Frogs and Spotted Salamanders are the focal species. Sampling occurs from late January to April. In 2007, Tremont took over the reigns of this long-term monitoring project to help the park assess population trends in pond-breeding amphibians.
